Frequently Asked Questions

How many guests can the tents accommodate;

We offer a variety of tent sizes and configurations designed to best accommodate a number of different guest requirements. Beds are 92cm (3/4) and whilst our stretcher beds with mattresses can quite comfortably accommodate adults, our tent rates assume that children under 16 will be sharing with adults. Should you require a 3rd or more adults to share a family tent or large family tent, there will be a tent rate surcharge.

We have twin tents (2 guests), triple trents (2 adults & 1 child), small family tents (2 adults & 2 children), and large family tents (2 adults & 3 children).

What we offer;

All tents include beds and linen, shower amenities, and towels. Please bring your own swimming towels. Our breakfasts are typically a full English breakfast, and other meals that we offer are typically buffet style.

Our tent ablution facilities include a closed system chemical flush toilet, and warm water bucket shower.

If you have any specific dietary requirements, and given the limitations of catering in remote locations, we request that you discuss your requirements with us prior to booking, we will always try and assist where we can, but cannot guarantee that we will be able to satisfy your particular needs.

What you need to bring;

Please bring along a head torch, sun screen, hat, swimming towels, and water bottle (hydration pack for the more adventurous). Cash,  the locations that we go to seldom have reliable signal of any sort, and as such accepting credit card payments is generally problematic, please bring cash along with you.

We offer a limited selection of beverages at the camp during meal times, and in the case of dinners, this would include a choice of a white and red wine, a selection of beers, and minerals. You are most welcome to bring along your own specific beverages.

Fuel;

It is always a good idea to fill your vehicle up at the last fuel stop before reaching the camp.

Tent Configurations;

  1. Our standard twin safari tents accommodate 2 adults in two 3/4 beds. All our beds have cotton linen and a range of bathroom amenities. Each tent has an en-suite chemical flush toilet, and warm water bucket shower.
  2. Our triple safari tents accommodate 2 adults and 1 child under 16. this tent includes 1 stretcher bed and sleeping bag.
  3. Our family safari tents accommodate 2 adults and 2 children under 16. these tents include 2 stretcher beds and sleeping bags.
  4. Our large family safari tents accommodate 2 adults and 3 children under 16. these tents include 3 stretcher beds and sleeping bags.

Shower times;

Shower time is typically between 17h30 and 18h30 each day, and whilst it is possible to shower outside of these times, this will need to be arranged an hour before your desired time, and subject to availability of our crew.

Allergies & Dietary Requirements;

Whilst there will always be vegetarian options for our vegetarian guests, we regret that owing to the remote locations in which we operate, and bush kitchen facilities, we are unable to accommodate specific guest requirements.

What might a typical daily menu look like;

In keeping with our South African theme, we endeavor to present freshly prepared fare which is synonymous with South Africa, and could include dishes like; boboeti, roosterbrood etc.

A typical breakfast; Scrambled eggs / french toast, bacon, fried tomatoes, flapjacks & whipped cream, fruit, cereals & yoghurt, tea & coffee.

A typical dinner; Coconut cream chicken curry & basmati rice, seafood bake, wild mushroom risotto, potato bake, roasted butternut, garden salad, coleslaw salad, freshly baked rolls, and peppermint crisp desert.

Self Catering Facilities;

We regret there are no self catering facilities at our camps.

Cold Beverages;

We include a modest selection of beers, wines and minerals during dinner. You are most welcome to bring along your drink/s of choice, and we will always endeavor to have ice available during dinners.

Picnic lunches, cold drinks and snacks;

Where necessary, and at some of our camps, we will have picnic baskets available, and a selection of cold drinks, crisps, and other snacks available for sale.

Music in the camp;

As a courtesy to our fellow guests, we request that no music is played in the camps, unless you have booked a private camp.

Getting to the camps;

Unless otherwise stated, all our camps are accessible with a regular sedan, and having said this, the nature of our camp locations will require some traveling on dirt roads. In all cases a high clearance vehicle / SUV is recommended.

Book your own camp;

The most cost effective way to get your own group together for, for your own private camp is to select dates either just before, during, or just after the camp is scheduled to close. Each camp that we operate has an associated 'camp rate'.

The option of booking your own stand alone camp is also possible, and please read through our post on this option.
